The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the best museums nationally and internationally. Luckily, access to this local cultural institution is made easy by the Wheeling Metra stop, located right outside ONE

Getting There

Hop on the North Shore Metra Line at Wheeling and ride in to Chicago Union Station. From Union Station, you can call a ride or get on the El train at the Quincy Brown Line Station and get off at the Adams/Wabash Brown Line Station. 


General admission is $25, or $22 for Illinois residents; children and members get in for free, and discounted admission is available for seniors, students and teens. You can purchase tickets here.

You also have the option to buy a Chicago CityPASS, a packaged deal giving you access to the top attractions in Chicago, including the Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck Chicago, Field Museum, Art Institute of Chicago OR Adler Planetarium and Museum of Science and Industry OR 360 Chicago Observation Deck.

What To See

The collection at the Art Institute of Chicago includes thousands of artworks spanning around the globe. You can find famous works from Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and more. 

Expect to spend two-three hours exploring the many wings of the museum and discovering which one is your favorite. Don’t forget to check out The Modern Wing and the downstairs collections, featuring the incredible Thorne Miniature Rooms showcasing tiny, model room interiors.
